The Caily App Founders’ Story: Meet Caily

Introduction
Every app has a story. But not all of them begin in a boardroom or with a whiteboard full of ideas. Some are born in hospital rooms, around kitchen tables, or in the quiet moments after a long day of caregiving. That’s how Caily, the comprehensive caregiver app, came to life: not from Silicon Valley, but from the hearts of families who knew there had to be a better way to care.
In caregiving, origin stories matter. They reflect the love behind the labor, the values that shape the vision, and the authenticity that makes all the difference. If you’ve ever supported someone you love through aging, illness, or a life transition, this story is for you.
Caily began from two deeply personal journeys and became a mission that now powers a growing caregiving technology platform that’s changing lives.
The Moments That Inspired Caily
Behind every good idea are key moments: a memory, a tipping point, or a question that refuses to let go. For Caily, those moments are rooted in personal caregiving experiences that made an indelible impression. They were not simply challenges. They were wake-up calls. And for the Caily app founders, those moments were the seeds of something greater.
A Family’s Caregiving Journey
Wynter Johnson, Caily’s President and Co-Founder, shares:
“There are countless reasons we built Caily—countless people we hope to help. But for me, it starts with my grandma.”
Wynter’s grandmother was a fiercely independent woman: strong, proud, and not one to ask for help. That meant that many of her needs-physical, emotional, and logistical-went unnoticed. Her daughter, Wynter’s mom, bore the weight of caregiving primarily on her own, without a unified system to organize or update the family.
Doctors’ appointments were stressful, support wasn’t coordinated, and communication was fractured. “She was in the hospital for a week before she passed away, and none of us knew,” Wynter recalls. “If she had been doing Daily Check-Ins, like we designed in Caily, we would have known something was wrong after the first missed day.”
Like so many caregiving stories, this one was marked by love and exhaustion. Everyone cared deeply, but no one had the right tools. As a result, things fell through the cracks. Burdens multiplied. And precious opportunities for connection slipped away.
The Realization: There Has to Be a Better Way
Wynter realized what so many Caregivers do: caregiving isn’t difficult due to a lack of interest in making it better, but problems arise because of a lack of tools and systems. And so, Wynter envisioned a new kind of caregiver app. One that made it easier to stay informed, stay connected, and offer meaningful care without chaos or confusion.
From Personal Struggle to Purpose-Driven Solution
At the same time, co-founder McKenna McCormick is navigating her caregiving journey from hundreds of miles away. Her family is her world, and her mom is busy taking on the bulk of caring for her grandparents. But living in another state meant McKenna couldn’t just pop in to say hi, bring her Grammy flowers, or sit on the couch with her Papa and watch Westerns over Chinese takeout.
Instead, she found herself watching it all unfold through texts and calls, feeling helpless while her mom juggled everything on the ground. Doctor visits, prescription refills, and keeping everyone updated, all while still trying to live her own life. It was overwhelming, and so, so familiar to families everywhere.
“To care for someone is love in action,” McKenna shares. “But families have so few resources, and no one tells you how hard it is until you’re in it. The moment something happens— one appointment, one diagnosis, one fall—you're thrown into crisis and can oftentimes feel helpless.”
Wynter and McKenna’s shared experiences became the foundation of Caily. This wasn’t the product of a brainstorm. It was a lifeline, one they both needed and one they knew would benefit other families too.

Building a Team with Shared Values
Caily wasn’t just built by founders, it was built by family members, daughters, granddaughters, and people who get it. Every team member has a story that led them to this point. It was that shared heart that steered the journey, where empathy guided the tech, and every feature came from a place of care. The creators understood that caregiving wasn’t about one size fits all. That's why Caily is adaptable, accessible, and simple to use: a tool for the parent monitoring medications, the sibling monitoring appointments, or the friend checking in from afar.
The Caily Mission
Everything we do at Caily is rooted in care. We honor the selflessness of caregivers by building tools that empower them to thrive. Our values and mission aren't just declarations: they're commitments to individuals we touch every day.
At Caily, we see the person behind the responsibility. That’s why every detail is shaped by empathy. We ask how each choice will ease the load, bring comfort, and foster connection.
“Caily has made me reflect on what it means to care for others—and how I want to be cared for as I age.”
— Wynter Johnson, Caily Co-Founder.

Caily honors every family’s privacy and every person’s preferences. It’s designed to support dignity, especially in life’s hardest moments. Because being cared for should feel empowering, not invasive.
